Majuro - From Hyperbolic Planes to Easter Eggs

The Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) normally lies just to the south of Majuro but comes up regularly to give Majuro lots of rain and wind.  Amazingly, Ailuk only a few hundred miles to the north has much drier conditions.  You can see our friend's boat, Sweet Dreams, just off our starboard bow.

Most of our time in Majuro, the capital of the Marshall Islands, was spent on a pretty hefty package of maintenance, administration, logistics and home schooling.  There will be a blog post on the maintenance to follow but here are a few photos of our time in Majuro.

Lots of school.  Victoria's crocheting representation of a hyperbolic plane.  A pretty cool project
Many a Risk game was played on SV Sweet Dreams

And Marino from SV Forever playing Lego patiently with Benjamin (before we covered the table with tools and parts for a month)

and a BBQ time on SV Skye.  They very generously let Johnathan use their awesome workshop to modify one of his knives.

and the Easter Bunny found us yet again despite our transient sea gypsy life.

on the hunt.

and then a multiboat Easter egg hunt organised by Gina on Skye, Free Spirit, Fluenta, Forever and Sweet Dreams.  Whew.

I even had a chance to do some sport fishing.

and we won for the biggest sailfish and for getting five qualifying species (sailfish, wahoo, tuna, barracuda and mahi mahi)
This squid was living by our anchor chain

and then there was a DC-3 in the anchorage

so I had to dive down for a selfie.  Free diving selfies are actually a challenge to take.
Not the prettiest harbour with the poverty ashore and with all the commercial traffic (this is actually a photo from our 2017 visit)

but certainly worse places to do maintenance in exotic locations.  Fluenta is under the yellow arrow.
