Passage Preps

Hello!

After yesterday's "omnibus", this just a quick note tonight. We spent most of today onboard, preparing food & spaces for our upcoming trip to Suwarrow (still looks like a Saturday departure). It is Victoria's birthday tomorrow, so she was busy making a pinata with flour/water paste and strips of paper towel (her own idea). She will make and decorate her own cake tomorrow. As for me, we now have a double batch of granola, a double batch of oatmeal cookies, and a double batch of biscuits cooling on the counter, with ginger cookies to follow (along with V's cake) tomorrow.

During a few quiet moments today, we spent some time reading about the import restrictions on food that we will face when we arrive in NZ; our cupboards are still pretty full (which is a good thing, since we won't see much in the way of a grocery store for another month) but we want to minimize waste when we get there. The funny thing is that we have to do a lot of reading/research, because even though much of the NZ info is really well prepared and presented, there is very little written on this (the advice that we read was "to be prepared and look things up on the internet"!) It seems that this is an area when we may want to document our experiences for those who follow us!

Anyway, I will wish you a good night, as I still have some chores to do before calling it a day (something about clearing counters, sinks, beds, and tables of the debris that has collected in the 72 hrs since we had a clean boat and room for company!)

Much love (and thanks for all the kind emails),

Elizabeth
